Micropeel Plus

What is the micropeel plus?

The micropeel plus is a peel that uses salicylic acid to diminish acne and help your skin look brighter and smoother.

What is salycylic acid and how does it work?

Salicylic acid is a synthetic acid that is derived from the bark of a willow. It is a type of beta hydroxy acid (BHA), which is extremely popular in the treatment of acne. It causes the dead cells of your outer-most layer of skin, the epidermis, to shed, opening up your pores and allowing the bacteria within to be treated and neutralized. This in turn allows new cell growth as well as smaller pore development which prevents your pores from clogging up again.

Am I a candidate for a micropeel plus?

Micropeels are safe for the majority of people. Different skin types have different reactions to peels, so it is beneficial to come in and have a free Skin Solutions consultation with Tonya or Krystal to discuss how this peel could specifically affect your unique skin type. It only removes the top layers of skin cells and therefore is minimally invasive. Salicylic acid peels are the most common chemical peel used to treat acne.

How can a micropeel plus help me?

Salicylic acid is one of the best forms of treatment for acneic skin, especially when used in combination with an acne treatment regimen. There is some debate as to whether the salicylic acid or glycolic acid peel is better for acne treatment; however, most doctors and dermatologists argue that the salicylic acid peel is more effective in treating acne.

How many treatments will I need?

Again, it is best for you to come in for a free consultation to allow Tonya or Krystal to look at your skin to determine your best course of treatment. During this initial consultation, she will be able to give you a treatment plan for your specific skin concerns as well as the number of peels necessary to achieve your desired results.

Does the peel hurt?

Although everyone has a varied level of pain tolerance, the micropeel plus is minimally invasive. A burning sensation is the most common complaint, which is usually resolved by having a fan blown on your face throughout the course of the peel.

How long does the peel take?

You should allow about 30 minutes in our office for a micropeel plus procedure.

Is there any time necessary for recovery?

Depending on your profession, you may want to take some time off for your face to recover from the peel. Following treatment, your face will be red and you will have some skin peeling. In some cases, patients can experience a great amount of skin peeling. Prior to your treatment, Tonya or Krystal will give you specific information telling you exactly what to expect for recovery.
